IVA Partners with Comcast/NBCUniversal for Media Labs Hackathon

  |   Announcements

IVA joins a long list of technology partners including Twitter, Amazon, WatchWith, Spredfast, Ford, and more to give access to our vast library of “snackable” video content and easy to use API’s. In the fall of 2015 IVA was a tech partner in a similar event held exclusively for Comcast/NBCUniversal employees and saw great success and usage by the participants. We expect that to continue at this event as well. IVA’s service is a great compliment to the challenges being presented for this event and to the other partner services being offered. The theme for this hackathon is “New Forms of Storytelling Inspired by Emerging Technology” and has challenges around the connected car, content finds consumer, and a social media sharing challenge around movies. The movie challenge will focus on the new film Warcraft, coming this summer.

We are sure to see some great ideas and prototypes come out of this weekends 24 hour hackathon challenge, including possibly new ways of marketing and engaging users. IVA knows a thing or two on that subject, as we have been finding new and exciting ways of marketing movie, TV, and game trailers for over a decade. According to a 2013 study by The Diffusion Group, “The number one piece of entertainment related data that users looked for was a trailer or preview when deciding on what to watch or buy.”

The hackathon is being held in Sunnyvale California at Plug and Play Tech Center over the weekend of March 5th and 6th. Registration is open to the pubic.  For more information please visit the NBCUHackathon page.
